2011 Honda Civic GX

"We were greeted upon arrival in the parking lot by Tiffany. She took us inside and was very thorough about what we were looking for. She was able to show us the car we bought on the first try. The experience working with Tiffany was wonderful. You have an excellent salesperson named Tiffany Hanson."

Going Green and the 2011 Honda Civic GX

If you truly care about the environment, worry about our national hunger for fossil fuels, or just have a really long commute along traffic clogged freeways, there's an alternative fuel vehicle that is just right for you. It's called the Honda Civic GX and it is powered by compressed natural gas.

Honda Civic Natural Gas Vehicle

Natural gas is abundant in North America, and the Civic GX makes use of this abundant resource. The GX's internal combustion engine is the cleanest engine ever tested by the EPA from an emissions perspective [1] so you will never have to worry about whether your engine is running clean. As a result of this the GX has won award after award for being one of the "greenest" vehicles currently available for sale in the United States (see below).

If you think there are other vehicles that are more environmentally responsible you would be dead wrong. This is in light of the fact that most alternative fuel vehicles, such as hybrids, have an internal combustion gas engine which put out more pollutants and the fact that they are usually built with more unrecyclable and toxic materials. The Civic GX also has the benefit of looking just like any other 4 door Civic sedan which is nice because we love that distinctive style.

While the compressed natural gas that powers the Civic GX isn't available at every corner gas station there are facilities that sell it in all 50 states. Looking for a Natural Gas Station in New Hampshire? There are a few to choose from. The GX is also now available to private buyers (this is a very popular fleet vehicle as well) at participating Honda dealers across the country.

The Civic GX is powered by a 1.8 liter inline 4 cylinder engine that puts out 113 horsepower and 109 lb. feet of torque. The GX uses Honda's well respected five speed automatic and fuel economy is 24 city/36 highway which is good but falls a bit short of the Honda Civic hybrid's numbers[1].

Benefits of Going Green with the 2011 Honda Civic GX

A major benefit, other than keeping our environment clean, is that there is an available Federal Income Tax Credit if you buy a 2011 Honda Civic GX. Drivers in California can rejoice because they will also get a sticker to attach to the back bumper that allows them to drive in the carpool lane with only one passenger in the vehicle. That alone makes it worthwhile for commuters in California cities with terrible congestion problems like Los Angeles.

But who does the 2011 Civic GX appeal to?

While the Honda Civic GX is definitely a niche vehicle that appeals to a very distinct segment of the population, the automotive world is all the better because it exists. Jessica Fini, Senior Environmental Specialist with Honda Public Relations, had this to say about the target market for this very unique sedan, "The Civic GX is the ultimate clean commuter. Not only is the Honda Civic GX the cleanest internal combustion vehicle ever tested by the EPA but it has also been named for the seventh straight year in a row as the "Greenest Vehicle of the Year" by The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE). You also get single lane carpool access in California in conjunction with the added benefits of saving you gas and helping to protect the environment."

2011 Honda Civic GX Conclusions

The numbers of people who are truly concerned about the environment grow each day and the GX is an excellent way to help address that. And besides, no matter what fuel is powering this four door sedan, you can always take heart that you bought the right car simply because it is a Honda Civic at its core.

2010 Honda Civic GX Awards

For the seventh straight year, the Civic GX NGV was named "Greenest Vehicle" by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE). Not only did the Civic GX beat out the Toyota Prius for the top spot, but three other Honda vehicles also made the list, making 2010 the ninth consecutive year Honda has had more than three cars named to ACEEE's "Greenest Vehicles."
